Will Prasidh Krishna feature in India’s T20 World Cup squad?

Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Tuesday hinted that Karnataka seamer Prasidh Krishna could feature in India's T20 World Cup squad. Kohli said that Krishna could be a "surprise package" going into the mega event. After the match, Virat spoke to the media and talked about the bowling options for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Australia later this year.

"I think there'll be one player who will be a surprise package. Prasidh Krishna is someone who has bowled really well in domestic cricket", Kohli said after a comprehensive win over Sri Lanka in the second T20 International.

Krishna, who is a part of the Kolkata franchise in the Indian T20 League, has performed brilliantly at the domestic circuit in recent times. He is currently playing in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, where he has picked 17 wickets in eight matches for Karnataka.

Kohli also praised the bowling attack that restricted Sri Lanka to a below par 142. The Indian skipper also hailed the young pacer Navdeep Saini who won the Man of the Match for his impressive outing with the ball. Saini bowled economically and finished with 2 for 18.

“Navdeep has come into the ODI circuit as well… he is gaining more confidence in T20 cricket. You can really see him letting himself go. When he does that, he can clock those speeds which he did. It’s great to see him getting people out with yorkers and bouncers and with pace. It’s a really good sign for the team”, added Kohli.

Kohli also talked about Bumrah’s comeback and said that he is bowling with pace and the team is delighted to have him back in the side.

“Really pleased to have Jasprit back in the side. He’s bowling with pace again,” he mentioned.

Team India will now head to Pune for the third and final T20I of the series on January 10.
