The 3rd ODI on Sunday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore not only recorded India’s triumphant 2-1 victory against the mighty Aussies but also for Virat Kohli’s record-breaking 5000 ODI runs. The player achieved the milestone of scoring 5000 ODI runs as a captain becoming the fastest player to do so.
The Indian skipper joined hands with opener Rohit Sharma to guide his team to victory, amassing 89 runs in total. When the player was at the score of 17 runs during his inning in the last game, he achieved the feat of becoming the fastest to sore 5000 ODI runs as a captain. He got the record registered under his name in just 82 innings. Thus, breaking MS Dhoni’s score who completed is 5000 ODI runs in 127 innings.
Apart from Virat Kohli, Indian opener Rohit Sharma too achieved a major milestone as he managed to complete 9000 ODI runs, becoming the third fastest batsman to do so. Rohit managed to bag 9000 ODI runs in his kitty within 217 innings.
Virat Kohli also holds the record for the fastest to enter the 9000 ODI after he achieved the feat in just 195 innings.
The 3rd ODI between India and Australia was an exciting encounter between the teams as the series was squared at 1-1 after the 2nd match of the series. But Rohit Sharma’s knock of 119 and Mohammad Shami’s figures of 4/63 helped India clinch the series 2-1.
