Indian Women’s T20 is in its final stage, and two top sides will fight each other for the trophy. Last year’s winner Supernovas lock horns with Trailblazers to aim for the 2nd title in a row. After losing the opening game to Velocity, Supernovas delivered at the right time. First, the top-order gave a solid start, following a brilliant half-century from Athapaththu, and later, bowlers hold the nerve, despite a fight from Deepti and Harleen. All three sides finished on two points, but Velocity knocked out after a massive loss to Trailblazers. Mandhana’s unit has performed brilliantly. After a one-sided victory over Velocity, they fought hard in a stern chase in the next game. Deepti almost crossed the line, but they can back themselves to change the fortune this time in the final.
After missing out on the final due to the poor net-run-rate last year, Trailblazers finished on top this time, and they are one win away to take the trophy home. Dottin is a great inclusion, and she has done an excellent job with the batting in both games. Mandhana got a good start in the last game but couldn’t convert it into big. The skipper is already in good form, but her side requires some boost in her strike rate. With the tight bowling attack, Trailblazers had a slight advantage in the final. Supernovas collapse in the previous game after a good start from the openers, and their middle-order need to showcase their best game at this crunch time.
Dottin for Trailblazers and Athapaatu for Supernovas will be critical players to cross the line in Sharjah. Both sides have quality spinners and proper T20 batswomen who can change the game within a few deliveries. It should be a cracker game of cricket, and both sides would aim to get at least 140-145 to feel safe on this surface. It’s a big game, and both captains know how to handle the pressure in the T20s.
