In the India vs Australia game in 2008 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the home team won the toss and batted first. I. Sharma took the wickets of M. Hayden, R. Ponting, A. Symonds, and S. India were looking for their first Test win at Lord’s after 1986. Batting first, the Asian side scored 295 runs and in reply, the home team were bowled out for 319 runs. Trailing by 24 runs, India scored 342 runs in the second innings and asked the home team to chase 319 runs. However, I. Sharma stopped them with his seven-wicket haul. The team won the game by 95 runs.

In the last Test of the series against Sri Lanka, India scored 312 runs before getting all-out. With the ball, I. Sharma took five wickets and helped India bowl out the Lankan Lions for 201 runs. After getting a lead of 111 runs, India scored 274 runs and asked the home team, Lanka to chase 386. However, the home team was bowled out for 268, losing the game by 117 runs.
