St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors face each other to boost their semifinal chances in Caribbean Premier League 2020.
Team Preview
The story of Guyana and Patriots has been quite similar and they have no idea, how to maintain the winning streak. The tournament is in its second half and both sides are still confused to pick the best combination. Patriots got their first victory against defending champions, riding on Lewis’ 89 but failed badly against St Lucia, where Mohammed Nabi single handily demolished the batting unit with 5-wickets haul. Sitting at the bottom, Patriots desperately needs a couple of wins here to march towards the final four. The batting issues are yet to be solved. Chris Lynn has been an utter flop in the opening slot. Ben Dunk is batting at down-order which is the confusing part from skipper Rayad Emrit.
Meanwhile, last season’s runner-up Guyana are missing Shoaib Malik here as Chris Green is a confused skipper and the captaincy is making his own performance poor. In the previous game, they lost against Trinbago by 7-wickets after scoring 112 in the first innings. The last season’s hero Brandon King failed with the bat and the middle-order is also not taking any responsibility. Hetmyer got runs in the first two games but delivered failure in the next four. They have a strong bowling unit but to defend something, they require the same dedication from the batsmen as well. Guyana also needs back to back win here to boost their semifinal chances in the league. Two spots are fit for Trinbago and St Lucia but the main fight is for the remaining two spots.
Pitch Report
It will be the second affair of the day and Queen’s Park, Oval is a pure spinning track. Spinners are a big threat especially in the 2nd game of the day. Batsmen require some sensible batting to put some score on the board. It’s a surface where 130 is also a strong total and batting first would be an ideal call.
