St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will take on Jamaica Tallawahs in the second Saturday fixture of the Caribbean Premier League 2020.
Team Preview
Two bottom sides will fight in the second game of the day to ensure the top-four finish. St Kitts had a disappointing campaign with only one win out of five which came against Barbados Tridents. In the previous encounter, their top-order failed badly against Nabi as they lost 4 wickets on just 11. Ben Dunk put some runs with tailenders to post 110 in 20-overs. St Lucia chased down the target in 14.4 overs to add one more defeat to Patriots. Sitting at the bottom with just 2 points, Patriots need a quick turnaround to get back in the knockout race. They suffered defeats with narrow margins but the victory matters most to secure the spot in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Tallawahs also had a similar campaign with just two wins out of five. After winning the opening game, Jamaica lost the momentum and suffered four defeats. In the previous contest with Barbados, Jamaica put a good bowling show but surrendered against lone warrior, Mayers who made 85 runs off 49 balls. Lamicchane-Mujeeb duo conceded just 30 runs in their 8-overs spell and bagged 5 wickets but still, Tridents crossed 140. In the chase, Jamaica lost 4 in 7-overs and the run-rate pressure made them out of the contest. Tallawahs need support from their batsmen. Even after having a strong bowling unit, they are going down in every game.
Pitch Report
Being the second game of the day, Queen’s Park Oval will behave like a pure spinning track. If batsmen avoid wickets against spinners, they can score big like Mayers did against Jamaica. The surface will be dry and slow. Spinners will be yet again a threat. A score between 130-140 would be the tricky one while chasing.
