Team Preview

West Indies and South Africa will meet for the final time in the decider game of the series. West Indies side did a good job by defending 167 and one more time, a team failed to chase a total on this surface. In the second and third T20I, West Indies failed to chase 160 plus odd runs. On all occasions, batting first sides posted around 160-170. In the first game, World Champions thrashed Proteas by chasing the total in 15 overs but they suffered two defeats in the next two games.

South Africa has to improve in their batting and they cannot rely on one good knock. De Kock scored another fine half-century but middle-order failed to deliver one more time. Dwayne Bravo bagged a 4-wicket haul and Russell picked two wickets. Shamsi was a shining star and he bagged another two-wicket haul.

West Indies lost two wickets in the first four overs and Simmons scored 47 off 34 balls. In 16th over, they lost their 6th wicket with 106 on board. Captain Pollard rescued West Indies with 25-ball 51 to take them to 167. South Africa were not even in the frame while chasing and they lacked in middle-order one more time.

It was South Africa’s seventh loss in the last 11 games and they can still eye the first T20I series win after a long break. In the covid outbreak, they suffered three series defeats in T20Is. Meanwhile, West Indies can also win back-to-back series win at home. If they lose, they gonna suffer the second T20I series loss in 7 months as they last lost to New Zealand in December 2020. Proteas should be proud of their bowlers for defending back-to-back totals but their collective performance is missing.

Pitch Report

St George’s surface in Grenada is a decent batting wicket and it allows spinners to dominate the game. The track is getting slower due to its sluggish behaviour. Chasing would be tricky as the batting first side won the last three games here.
