The Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been named the new skipper of Delhi ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League. The franchise took the final call on captaincy after Shreyas Iyer’s absence due to a shoulder injury. There were too many names in the race for the captaincy like Ashwin, Rahane, and Smith but the franchise showed faith in Pant.
The left-hander has been outstanding for team India in the recently concluded international season. Delhi was the runner-up side of the previous season and lost to Mumbai in the final. Pant will have a big responsibility to eye maiden title for Delhi. Delhi will start their Indian T20 League campaign on April 10 against 3-times winner Chennai.
