The ongoing 2019-20 Ranji Test Trophy in India marks the 86th season of the premier first-class cricket tournament. The trophy follows the same format as that of the previous year with four groups, A, B, C and Plate group. Every group has 9 teams each.
This season, Indian Cricket Board has allowed the use of umpire Decision Review System (DRS) in the knockout stages that will enhance the tournament with fair decisions and transparency. The Day 3 of Round 1 witnessed some surprising winners such as Meghalaya, Manipur, Chandigarh and Puducherry.
Here are highlights of the major matches.
Meghalaya vs Nagaland
The match between Meghalaya and Nagaland took place in Dimapur, Nagaland. The match saw some interesting results. Meghalaya defeated Nagaland by 110 runs and the star player of the match was Sanjay Yadav with 4/60.
Mizoram vs Manipur
The clash between Mizoram and Manipur was hosted in Kolkata where Manipur smashed its opponent, Mizoram, by six wickets. It was the first victory registered by Manipur in this season and with this victory, they have topped the table with six points.
Chandigarh vs Arunachal Pradesh
Chandigarh is competing in the Ranji Test Trophy for the first time and it succeeded in beating Arunachal Pradesh in its home ground. Gurinder Singh became the favourite player of the spectators as he took 6 wickets for 50 runs.
Bihar vs Puducherry
The face-off between Bihar and Puducherry saw some beautiful moments. Puducherry successfully smashed the opponents Bihar in their home ground by 10 wickets.
Jammu & Kashmir vs Uttrakhand
Jammu & Kashmir and Uttrakhand played their round 1 match in Dehradun. Uttrakhand lost to J&K in their home ground by 253 runs. Ram Dayal pulled off 5 wickets for just 58 runs.
