Pakistan vs Zimbabwe, First ODI, Match Prediction

Pakistan kick starts their first international home assignment with an ODI series agaisnt Zimbabwe.

Match Timings: Oct 30, 12:30 PM

Team Preview

Pakistan is ready to host Zimbabwe and it would be their first home assignment during the COVID-19 outbreak. Rawalpindi will host all the ODI matches to follow the pandemic restrictions. Pakistan recently visited England and they put a decent show in the T20 series. This ODI series will part of the ICC’s ODI Super League and both sides will take part for the first time in this new format. Pakistan was supposed to play an ODI against Bangladesh at home but it was postponed due to pandemic. Shadab Khan will not be available for this fixture. Pakistan included players from their Nation T20 Cup’s performances. Few players of 2019 World Cup have been retained. Any changes in top-order are not expected as Fakhar Zaman and Imam both had a good run in National T20 Cup 2020.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe has achieved a fine opportunity to perform on a higher stage. Their main coach will be unavailable due to personal reason. Zimbabwe is also appearing in ICC’s new system for World Cup. In last one year, few players have impressed with the performance especially Ryan Burl. Sikandar Raza recently participated for Trinbago in Caribbean T20 League and he could draw some experience in this series. Brendon Taylor has a huge responsibility to take his experience in this new assignment.

Pitch Report

Rawalpindi’s surface is a pure batting track. The dryness on the surface could help out the spinners which we see majorly on Pakistan’s all surfaces. The first hour is crucial against the new ball. It’s a track of 270-300 if top-order avoids early blows. Dew will not play a major role and batting first would be an ideal call.
