Team Preview

Pakistan and Zimbabwe will wrap up the three-match ODI series on Tuesday. Pakistan would aim to earn the clean-sweep over Zimbabwe after an emphatic win in the first two ODIs. Pakistan is also giving a chance to their youngsters as they handed ODI caps to Haider Ali and Musa Khan on Sunday, following Haris Rauf’s debut in the first ODI. In 2nd ODI, Pakistan sealed the series with a 6-wickets victory, riding on Babar Azam’s half-century and Iftikhar Ahmed’s 5-wickets haul. Pakistani bowlers restricted Zimbabwe on just 206, despite Sean Williams’ 75. Imam can rest after scoring 58 and 49 in the series as Babar can recall Fakhar in place of him, or Haider Ali can get a chance in the opening slot by taking Khushdil Shah in middle-overs. Usman Qadir can also get the game with his leg-spin skills.

For Zimbabwe, it would be a game for a moral victory. In the opening game, they showed great skills in both departments but delivered a failure in the second ODI. On a spinning track, they failed to make runs and bowled out on a mere total. Brendon Taylor has the big responsibility to take Zimbabwe to the finish line. Saen Williams and Madhevere both scored fine knock respectively in both ODIs. Ryan Burl could play the game for his extra spin. To prepare for the T20I series, Zimbabwe needs to play fearless cricket. The top-order is not delivering much with the bat, and they need more depth in middle-overs from the bowlers.

Pitch Report

Rawalpindi’s surface is now a decent wicket, which helps batsmen and bowlers both. On a used surface, the spin can trouble batsmen, as we saw in the previous game. Batsmen need to play sensibly. It’s a good wicket for batting, and 260 is now gettable.
