Team Preview

The International friendlies are back after the competitive league schedule in the last one month. Two prominent European sides Netherlands and Spain, will face each other to prepare for the Nations League and next summer’s Euro Cup.

The Netherlands started off their Nations League campaign with a 1-0 victory against Polland but dropped points in the next three matches, including a defeat against Italy. In an international encounter last month, Frank de Boer’s men also lost to Mexico 1-0. The Netherlands scored a single goal during this struggling run, which came in their previous outing against Italy. Van De Beek scored an equaliser in the reply of Pellegrini’s 16th-minute strike. Both sides created opportunities but couldn't find the winner. Against Bosnia, Luuk de Jong almost created a Netherlands' goal, but Ibrahim Sehic saved it. Boer’s side now occupies the 3rd spot with 6 points, only behind Bosnia.

Meanwhile, Spain are at the top of the table in Nations League Group H, one point ahead of second-placed Germany. La Roja are coming off a 1-0 loss to Ukraine, courtesy of Viktor Tsyhankov’s goal. Before losing this game, they edged past the Swiss side 1-0. Luis Enrique's side defeated Ukraine in the first leg game with a 4-0 margin and played a 1-1 draw with Germany. In last month’s international friendly, they held Portugal to a goalless draw.

Both sides met last in any international friendly in 2015. Goals from Stefan de Vrij and Davey Klaassen helped the Netherlands to secure a 2-0 win over Spain.
