Montpellier lock horns against Lyon at the Stade de la Mosson on Tuesday evening in the 2020-21 Ligue 1.
Match Timing: Sep 16, 12:30 AM
After losing the opening encounter against Rennes, Montepellier secured a much-needed victory over Nice. Laborte scored the first goal in the 18th minute and defender Daniel Congre netted a brace in 2nd half to give 3-0 advantage before Dante’s strike in the 69th minute for Nice. Michel Der Zakarian's men keen to add one more victory to go ahead over Lyon in the table. The home advantage could give them a tag of underdogs as they lost twice in their last 15 home games in Ligue 1. Ahead of the next three games later the victory against Lyon, Zakarian’s side can aim for the top six finishes.
Meanwhile, the Champions League semi-finalists travel to Stade de la Mosson to add three points after playing a goalless draw against Les Girondins in the second game, following the 4-1 victory against Dijon, courtesy of Depay’s hat-trick. The last game had questioned Lyon’s attack who failed to break the defense of Bordeaux, who kept their third straight clean sheet in the league. Houssem Aouar is back for Lyon and was impressive in the previous game. After PSG’s second straight loss, Garcia is pretty optimistic to come closer in the top four. Both sides met earlier in the last season and Montpellier tasted the victory over Garcia’s side with a 1-0 victory.
