Detailed Match Report
Putting Supernovas to bat first, Mithali Raj & her team ensured to pick up on every opportunity of winning the game. The first shock came to Supernovas in the form of Priya Punia who was dismissed by Kasperek in the 5th over. The opener managed to bag just 11 runs before she was made to walk. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur & the Sri Lankan brilliance Chamari Athapaththu provided a decent foundation to the team's innings, contributing 31 off 27 & 44 off 39 balls, respectively. Apart from Kaur in the middle-order, only S Siriwardene contributed 18 runs. With collaborative efforts, Supernovas managed to put 126 runs on the board.
Velocity looked in all form, eager to not let the 2019 Indian Women's T20 Finale history repeat itself. The teams started the game on a brilliant note with a destructive bowling attack. Ekta Bisht picked 3 wickets in 4 overs, conceding just 22 runs. On the other hand, Jahanara Alam and Kasperek picked 2 wickets each in their share of 4 overs. Despite starting on a slow note with 2 wickets already down within the first 2 overs, the batting department of the team looked fine as well. However, skipper Mithali Raj failed to impress with the bat today. Veda Krishnamurthy and the young-champion Shafali Verma could manage just 29 & 17 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, Sune Luus & Sushma Verma the most crucial players, scoring 37 & 34 runs each. The 51-run partnership between the due, helped Velocity achieve a close-edged encounter.
