Mumbai dropped Ishan Kishan for Nathan Coulter Nile. Jos Buttler and Jaiswal batted very well from the start and the opening pair added 66 runs for the opening wicket before Rahul Chahar struck to pick Buttler on 41 off 32 balls. Chahar also picked Jaiswal on 32 and Rajasthan crossed 100 runs mark in the 12th over. In middle-overs, Mumbai controlled the runs as Dube and Samson added 57 runs for the 3rd wicket with missing acceleration. In final overs, Mumbai avoided extra boundaries and Rajasthan posted 171 despite a fiery start from top-order.
Second Innings (Mumbai 172/3)
Tewatia missed out run-out chance of Rohit and Mumbai got a good start. On the final ball of the powerplay, Chris Morris picked the wicket of Rohit. Suryakumar failed to contribute more as Morris struck again in his 2nd over. After losing two quick wickets, De Kock took the charge and added vital runs with Krunal. Kock scored his first half-century of the season and the game was slipping from Rajasthan. This partnership changed the game in favour of Mumbai. Mustafizur broke this stand with the wicket of Krunal who scored 39. Defending champions avoided any late-drama as Pollard also added a quick cameo to seal the game by 7 wickets.
