2020 is more about the Super Overs in Indian T20 League and on Sunday night, Mumbai and Delhi witnessed two Super Overs to decided the winner. First Super Over ended in a tie and Punjab holds the nerve to defeat Mumbai in 2nd Super Over. It happened for the first time in the history of T20 cricket.

Detailed Match Report 

Punjab got a dream start as they removed their top-order on just 38. Rohit Sharma, Suryakuamr Yadav and Ishan Kishan got out on single digit. Krunal Pandya joined De Cock to deliver some recovery and the dup put 58 runs stand before Krunal got out on 34. De Cock got his 4th half-century of this season. Punjab got Pandya and De Cock in successive overs to get back into the game. The flag over trauma continued for Punjab as Pollard and Coulter Nile smashed 57 runs off 21 balls to take Mumbai towards an imposing total of 176. Pollard scored 34 off just 12 balls, including 4 sixes. 

Punjab’s start was quite good, having scored 33 in first 3 overs. Bumrah opened the door for Mumbai to pick Mayank on 11. Punjab finished powerplay on 51/1 with Rahul and Gayle on strike. Both put a steady stand but it didn’t last long as Chahar picked Gayle to give a second blow to  Punjab. Pooran started the innings quickly and Bumrah grabbed him after 12-balls 24. Maxwell got a duck after a fine catch from Rohit in slip. KL Rahul completed yet another half-century and 500 runs this season. Hooda just supported his skipper who was managing this entire chase on his shoulder. Punjab was on driver’s seat and Bumrah strike in 18th over to pick Rahul after hard-fought knock of 77. Hooda and Jordan hold the nerve till the end but last-ball run-out from De Cock, helped Mumbai to take the game into Super-over. 

Super Over – Bumrah is a smart bowler to bowl in the Super Over and he conceded just 5 runs, picking Pooran and KL Rahul's wicket. Shami also bowled the Super Over brilliantly and conceded only 5 runs to give Punjab another ray of hope. In 2nd Super Over, Jordan bowled for Punjab and conceded only 11 runs, thanks to Mayank Agarwal's stunning effort to save a six. Boult came to defend 11 and Gayle smashed six on first ball, followed by Mayank Agarwal's heroics to seal the game for Punjab.

Bumrah is our star performer of the match. He picked wickets in each spell when Mumbai needed the most. He grabbed Mayank Agarwal in his first over and removed Pooran in his second. In his final over, he got the big wicket of KL Rahul. He finished his bowling figure with 4-0-24-3. In Super Over, he just conceded 5 runs and got two wickets.
