First Innings (Mumbai 150/5)
Hyderabad handed the debuts to Virat Singh and Mujeeb for the first time, a side decided to bat first after winning the toss. Mumbai started the inning with a high note and both openers added 55 runs in just 6.3 overs. Rohit Sharma completed his 4000 runs in Indian T20 League as the skipper. Vijay Shankar picked him after 25-ball 32. After picking the first wicket, David Warner showed intensity in the captaincy and Hyderabad controlled the run-rate. Mujeeb claimed his first wicket with the dismissal of De Kock on 40. Mumbai struggled to get runs in death-over but two sixes off the final two balls by Pollard gave them a total of 150 which was a competitive total.
Second Innings (Hyderabad 137)
Hyderabad’s start was a treat for T20 fans and Bairstow started the fire after getting 18 off Boult’s over. The opening duo added 57 runs from the powerplay. Krunal Pandya provided the breakthrough with the wicket of Bairstow who scored 43 off just 22 balls. Chahar got Pandey in next over to bring Mumbai into the game. In the 12th over, David Warner got run out on 36 and Hyderabad’s middle-order issues started as Chahar claimed a 3-wicket haul to leave Hyderabad struggling at 104/5 in 15 overs. Shankar took 16 off Krunal’s next over to add some twist to the game. Pandya added one more run with a direct hit to send Samad into the pavilion and in the same over, Boult got Rashid out on duck. Vijay Shankar also got out on 28 to end all the hopes for Hyderabad and Mumbai won this match by 13 runs.
