Detailed Match Report

First Innings (Bangalore 204/4)

Today, the Indian T20 League marked its 13th anniversary and in 2008, Kolkata and Bangalore met each other. After winning the toss, Kohli opted to bat first and Bangalore’s start was so poor as they lost Kohli and Patidar in the first two overs. Padikkal and Maxwell added 86 runs for the 3rd wicket to revive Bangalore. Maxwell was in a great mood and he completed his consecutive half-century. ABD joined him and the acceleration was boosted. Cummins picked the big wicket of Maxwell after 49-ball 78 but Kolkata lost the momentum in the final 3 overs. ABD thrashed Kolkata by smashing 76 off just 34 balls and Bangalore scored 56 runs in the last 3 overs to get 204 on board.

Second Innings (Kolkata 166/8)

Kolkata made a quick start through Gill who smashed back-to-back sixes off Jamieson’s over but in the same over, Christian got him with a fine catch. Kolkata maintained the run-rate in the powerplay. Sundar grabbed Tripathi to leave Kolkata 57/2 after the powerplay. Kolkata’s struggle continues as Chahal got his maiden wicket of the season as he trapped Rana and Karthik in the opening spell. Shakib and Morgan tried to fight but the required-run-rate crossed 12. Harshal Patel picked Morgan on 29 to put more pressure on Kolkata. Russell added some twist after smashing 20 off Chahal’s over but it was a delayed effort. Jamieson picked Shakib and Cummins to break all hopes. Bangalore managed to clinch the game by 38 runs and retained their top spot in the points table.
