England defeated India by chasing 337 in the second ODI, courtesy of Bairstow’s 124 and Srokes’ 99. England have equalised in the series and the final match will be played on March 28.

Detailed Match Report 

First Innings (India 336/6) 

India lost both openers early. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli constructed the innings with great resilience. Kohli completed his 62nd ODI half-century but missed out a well-deserved century. Rishabh Pant joined KL Rahul and India went for acceleration. The duo added 113 runs off just 77 balls to cross the 250 mark for India. KL Rahul completed his 5th ODI century and Tom Curran trapped him on 108. Pant smashed England bowlers hard with 8 huge sixes and he got out after 40-balls 77. Hardik Pandya also added a quick cameo of 35 off just 16 to take India 336. India scored 126 runs in the final 10 overs and it was the second time India scored 300 plus total in five successive ODIs. 

Second Innings (England 337/4) 

England started the innings with a defensive approach and attacked Indian bowlers later. Roy and Bairstow completed their 13th 100 plus partnership in ODI format in just 43 innings. India got the relief when Roy got run out after scoring the first fifty of this tour. Jonny Bairstow didn’t allow Indian bowlers to settle and completed a fine hundred. Ben Stokes also fired after completing the half-century and smashed 28 runs off Krunal’s over. Stokes got out on 99 and Bairstow scored 124 off 112 balls. England made the mockery of this chase and won the match by 6 wickets to level the series.

Jonny Bairstow is our star performer of the match. The English opener scored a fine century and kept England’s hope high. He scored 124 off just 112 balls. He smashed 11 fours and 7 sixes during this knock.
