Detailed Match Report

With dropping Jagadeesan, Dhoni added extra spinner in the squad and with Faf, Chennai sent Sam Curran to make a good move. Curran scored 21-balls 31 and tried to fill the pinch-hitter spot. Faf got out on duck and Sandeep bagged two in the powerplay. Ambati Rayudu and Watson put a solid stand and took Chennai 100. In final overs, Hyderabad put pressure on Chennai by picking both set batsmen and Dhoni. Jadeja played a short cameo of 25 off 10 balls to charge Chennai to 167.

Hyderabad’s chase started very well until Sam Curran’s 4th over. First Warner got out with an easy caught behind and then, Manish Pandey got run-out with Bravo's direct hit. Williamson joined Bairstow to give Hyderabad a relief but Jadeja broke the stand by getting Bairstow out. Priaym Garg played sensibly and rotated the strike with Williamson. In 15th over, Karn picked Garg to give Chennai upper hand in the game. In flag-overs, Hyderabad needed some fire and Shankar started the trend with a six but Dhoni shared some words with Bravo to put wide yorker and Shankar trapped himself to get out. Karn got Williamson's wicket but Rashid fired in the same over, picking 19 runs to take Hyderabad close to the target. The late effort couldn't cross the line for them and Chennai won the match by 20 runs.
