Detailed Match Report

First Innings (Bangalore 149/9)

Hyderabad dropped Nabi and included Jason Holder to better their batting depth. Bhuvneshwar Kumar scalped Devdutt Padikkal in 3rd over to give a fresh start to Hyderabad. Shahbaz Ahmed constructed the innings but Nadeem picked him on 14. Maxwell and Kohli looked dull against the spin but they finally got 22 off Nadeem’s final over which released some pressure.

Warner made good use of his bowlers and trapped Bangalore in middle-overs. First, Holder picked well-set Kohli on 33 and then, Rashid grabbed ABD on just 1. Pressure built around Bangalore and they also lost Sundar and Christian in quick succession. Rashid went for just 18 in 4-overs and picked two wickets. Jamieson and Maxwell provided some fire, in the end, to get 149 on board. Maxwell scored a gritty half-century and it came after a long wait of 5 years in the Indian T20 League. Jason Holder also grabbed 3-wickets for 30.

Second Innings (Hyderabad 143/9)

Hyderabad lost Saha early as Siraj picked him on 1. Warner looked better against Bangalore’s attack and he kept Hyderabad in game. Manish Pandey played a sheet anchor and he provided support to his skipper. Warner completed his 49th Indian T20 League half-century off 31 balls. Kyle Jamieson provided the big breakthrough with the wicket of Warner. Hyderabad crossed 100 by losing just two wickets. Shahbaz trapped Bairstow, Pandey, and Samad in one over and the match become interesting with requiring 34 off the last three overs. Hyderabad didn’t hold the pressure despite a short cameo from Rashid and suffered an unwanted defeat from a winning situation.
