With another blistering opening stand from Dhawan and Shaw, Delhi thrashed Kolkata by 7 wickets to take the second spot in points-table.

Detailed Match Report 

First Innings (Kolkata 154/6) 

Axar Patel struck in 4th over to dismiss Nitish Rana. Tripathi and Gill tried to revive Kolkata but Stoinis grabbed Tripathi on 19 to form a mini-collapse. Kolkata lost Morgan and Narine on duck, followed by Gill’s wicket who scored 43 off 38 balls. Karthik also got out on 14 to leave Kolkata struggling at 109/6. Andre Russell took his time to get settle and smashed in the end. The birthday boy hit four sixes and remained not out on 44 off 27 balls. The late fire helped Kolkata to get 154. 

Second Innings (Delhi 156/3) 

Prithvi started the innings with six consecutive fours off Mavi’s opening over. He become the second player to achieve this feat in Indian T20 League after Rahane. The early fire put more pressure on Kolkata and Delhi ended the powerplay on 67 without loss. Shaw completed a half-century off just 18 balls, second join-fast fifty for Delhi. Morgan tried various options but Shaw and Dhawan looked unstoppable. At the halfway mark, Delhi reached 95 without loss. Cummins provided the late breakthroughs with the wicket of Dhawan, Shaw, and Pant. Shaw scored 82 off 41 balls and Dhawan contributed 46. Fire in the first ten overs made all the difference and Pant’s side defeated Kolkata by 7 wickets.

Prithvi Shaw is our star performer of the match. Delhi opener started his innings with six consecutive fours and smashed an 18-ball half-century. His attacking approach helped Delhi to made the mockery of this chase and Delhi grabbed two points with ease. Shaw scored 82 runs off just 41 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes.
