Bangalore lost Finch early but Kolhi put a good stand with Padikkal to set the momentum. Chennai came back in the game as Shradul Thakur got Padikkal and ABD out in 11th over. In 15th over, Washington Sundar also went to Pavilion. In last 5-overs, Kohli took the charge of Bangalore innings and added 76 runs for the 5th wicket. Kohli got the acceleration after completing the half-century. He remained not out on brilliant 90 off 52 balls.
In the chase, Washington Sundar struck twice in the powerplay as Chennai lost its openers on just 25. Jagadeesan and Rayudu carried Chennai’s innings forward and added 64 runs for the 4th wicket. The run-rate pressure was pushing Chennai to play big shots. They lost Dhoni and Sam Curran in successive overs to open the game for Bangalore. In his first game, Morris produced 3-wickets haul, conceding just 19 in his 4-overs spell.
