Prithvi Shaw played like a pinch hitter and gave a cracking start to Delhi along with Dhawan. They added quick 68 in 6.4 overs, before Siraj picked Shaw after 23-balls 42. Bangalore got Dhawan and Iyer to control Delhi’s run-rate. Stoinis took the charge in middle-overs with Pant and Delhi got the big acceleration. The Aussie all-rounder remained unbeaten 53 off 26 balls and Delhi got their highest total (196) ever against Bangalore in tournament history.
Against the early spin, Bangalore lost their openers in first 4-overs. Delhi took the grip as De Villiers went on just 9. The skipper Virat Kohli fought hard with gritty 43 but the regular wickets hurt Bangalore. Rabada picked 4-wickets haul to shatter Bangalore’s all hopes in the big chase. Axar Patel was also economical as he picked 2 wickets for just 18 runs. With this defeat, Bangalore slipped to number 3 and they now have the poorest NRR in the tournament.
