The Premier League runner up Manchester City is set to announce the signing of 20-year-old winger Ferran Torres from Valencia soon. Torres could be a good replacement for Leroy Sane, who went to Bayern Munich at the start of July.
According to the talksport, the English club is ready to break all rumors about the signing amount to get Valencia player for the upcoming Premier League season 2020-21 which will start next month. Torres will be the second signing for Manchester City of this summer, following the signing of right-back Issa Kabore from Mechelen.
The Spanish player netted six goals and seven assists in all competitions for Valencia this season. The Spaniard has been played on the right-wing by Voro Gonzalez and Albert Celades for Valencia through-out the season. He made 34 appearances to his club in La Liga this season. According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal will be expected to be done in €37 million. The 23-years old player is now set to sign a five-year contract with Manchester City.
The deal looks to be completed on Tuesday and the other reports are also signifying that the signing value could be lower and around the £20million mark.
Terry Gibson, the former Spurs and United player said on talksport, “He is worth more than double that (£20million). It’s an astonishing transfer because the circumstances of what we are in at the moment and I think transfer fees will begin to dwindle down a touch. Also, the fact he only had a year left on his contract so Valencia are looking to take up a big building process and I think it’s been clear there must have been other clubs interested in him.”
Despite being signed to the club, the right-winger will not be eligible to feature in Manchester City’s first Champions League fixture against Real Madrid on Friday.
