The journey of the defending champions ended after their yet another disappointing defeat in the tournament. Holder-led side was playing their must-win game against Guyana but their horror show with the batting continued in the third consecutive game. Barbados failed to touch the figure of 100 for the 3rd time and their top-order let them down on a challenging game. Tridents managed to score 89 in the previous outing and Guyana chased it down in 14.2 overs. After losing a game from the winning situation against Trinbago, Trident’s moral went pretty low. In the next game, they fell short of 3 runs against Zouks in a chase of 93. When they required a comeback, Guyana broke their last hopes by defeating them twice in the league. They aim to end their dull campaign on a positive note.
Meanwhile, Jamaica Tallawahs made into the semifinals after sharing the points with the Patriots in a washed-out affair. With reaming two more games, Jamaica needs a win in both matches to claim 2nd or 3rd position in the league to avoid a semifinal clash with Trinabgo Knight Riders, who had already grabbed the top spot in the table. Tallawahs had a quality bowling unit and their batting unit is also making efforts. Phillips is in good form and Russell also got half-century against Trinbago. Brathwaite is picking wickets in the middle and providing strength at the down-order. Mujeeb will be unavailable for the knock out matches due to Afghanistan’s domestic T20 tournament.

Brian Lara Stadium showed different colors this week. Being the 2nd game of the day, the surface would be a bit slow and a paradise for the spinners. In the last couple of games, even 120 was difficult to score while batting first. It might be another low-scoring game at Tarouba.
