India squad for the upcoming Women’s World T20 Cup 2024 in UAE has been announced. The announcement has come a day after the defending champions, Australia announced their team. The Asian side has become the second team to announce their squad for the showpiece event.
Initially, the tournament was meant to be played in Bangladesh. However, due to unfortunate violence and political unrest, the tournament was moved to the United Arab Emirates.
Talking about the team, A. Shobhana, S. Sajeevan will play their first World Cup across formats. Even though S. Patil will also play her first World T20 Cup, her inclusion is subject to fitness alongside Y. Bhatia.

Talking about the team’s performance in the World T20 Cups, they have been one of the most consistent sides in the tournament. Apart from playing their first final in 2020, they have qualified for the semis in 2009, 2010, 2018 and 2023. They would like to recreate what their Men’s counterparts did in June this year. For the first time after 2007, India Men’s Cricket Team won the World T20 Cup title in the USA and the West Indies. The Women’s team is looking for their maiden World Cup win across formats.
