Indian T20 League Auction 2020: Shai Hope Goes Unsold

West Indies batsman, Shai Hope, went unsold at the Indian T20 League 2020 auction. The wicketkeeper-batsman was registered at base price 50 Lac, but none of the franchises expressed their desire to place a bid on him. It is surprising to see Shai go unsold, despite his exceptional performances in the T20 and ongoing ODI series against India. He is the third high highest run-getter in ODIs in 2019 behind Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

However, this cash-rich league was never his priority, as he mentioned during his training session ahead of the second ODI match in Vizag. He said that his team is here to win the series against India and this auction is secondary for him. Though it is at the back of his mind.

It is shocking that Hope’s colleagues, Sheldon Cottrell and Shimron Hetmyer, turned to be the blockbuster picks at the auction, while he did not receive a nod from any takers.
