Indian T20 League 2020 to begin on March 29, final in Mumbai

The Indian T20 League Governing Council (GC) has announced the schedule of the 13th edition of the Indian T20 League. The cash rich tournament is set to begin on March 29 and the final will be held on May 24 in Mumbai. The Governing Council along with BCCI officials also revealed that Indian T20 League will also have concussion substitutes from this season.

BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly also announced that there would be an All-Stars game between top international players before the start of IPL for a charitable cause.

"It will be an IPL All Stars Game three days before start of IPL. The venue is not Ahmedabad as it is still not match ready. We have not decided on where we will make the donation," Ganguly said.

The GC members in the meeting also decided that there will be no change in the timings of the matches. Earlier, it was reported that the broadcasters had asked for an earlier start. The former Indian captain also said that the third umpire will now make the exclusive ‘no ball’ call instead of the on-field umpires. It was tested during the recent India and West Indies ODI series.

“We will have only five double headers (4pm and 8 pm) this time. We have decided to reduce the number of double headers,” Ganguly said adding that the “final will be held in Mumbai.”In a first, concussion substitute and ‘third umpire no ball’ will also be introduced in the upcoming edition of the popular T20 league, the former India captain mentioned.
