Hyderabad replacing Pune City

Pune City FC, founded in the year 2014 had a short-lived career in the tournament as the founders dissolved the team in 2019 following an array of financial losses, monetary limitations and technical difficulties. The ownership rights were sold to a Hyderabad based IT entrepreneur Vijay Madduri and Kerala Blasters FC’s former CEO Varun Tripuneni. Thus, in the upcoming season of the series the Pune City FC will be replaced by Hyderabad FC, making the total number of teams participating in the tournament stay same, i.e., 10. The team will be coached by English footballer Phil Brown
