India Women are again in trouble and they are on the verge of losing the fourth series loss in 2021. Indians girls will take on England in the do-die game of the series after losing the opening game by 13 runs. It was a rain-affected game but when the game was stopped India were in deep trouble in the chase of 178. India’s bowling looked pathetic and England posted 177. Sciver scored 55 off just 27 balls and Jones contributed 43 off 27 to take England towards a big total. Sciver and Jones added 78 runs in just 7 overs. Indian bowlers conceded easy runs in middle overs.
Shikha Pandey were a shining star who bagged three wickets for 22. Spin combinations looked pretty dull in the first game and we might see one player misses out from the XI. India’s batting were also not good as they lost two wickets in the powerplay with scoring 44. In the middle, Harleen played so poorly with scoring just 17 off 24 balls and it made a difference as England were ahead in the D/L method by 13 runs.
The beaten finalists of the T20 World Cup played three limited-format series after the epic final at MCG. They suffered a 2-1 & 4-1 defeat to South Africa at home in T20I and ODI series respectively, meanwhile England thrashed New Zealand in both ODI and T20 series in away assignment. India have won just one game out of five on this tour. The only win came in the final ODI match and one match ended in a draw.
India have to showcase their best game because England is in tremendous form and they are the best side in the world after Australia. India and England both faced each other in the last year’s WC Semifinal but the match washed out due to rain and India made it into the finals. The same happened again in the first T20I but we got a result through the D/L method. Harman will also look to get some runs after poor form in all formats. Her form is leading India into trouble. Every game is important for India ahead of the next World Cup.
Pitch Report
Hove’s surface is a decent T20 surface and we can expect a good score here. It also offers great assistance to pacers. Chasing would be slightly tricky. We can see a score of around 160.
