Team News
India
Having won the recently concluded T20I series, India brought their A-game to wipe out the opponents. With the likes of KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the team witnessed a masterclass batting wonders on the field. Especially, skipper Virat was undoubtedly the Man of The Series as he exhibited sensational performances, with his blistering 94 runs in Hyderabad and 70 off 28 balls in Mumbai.
Despite the change in formats, there are only a few changes in the squad. Shikhar Dhawan is again away from the series due to his injury and in his absence, KL Rahul is likely to open the batting in partnership with Rohit Sharma. All eyes will be set on all-rounders Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami are likely to be India's main pacers for this match.
West Indies
West Indies is under hell lot of pressure owing to their last defeat. T20 is their strongest format, but still they were not able to clinch the series. It makes even more challenging for them to win the ODIs. Moreover, their star opener Evin Lewis has been ruled out because of his injury. But the visitors are all geared up to give a tough competition to India with an explosive batting and bowling attack, featuring Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, Alzarri Joseph, Kieron Pollard and Shai Hope. Since Chennai pitch is a bit difficult to deal with, Windies will have to be all prepared to face the amazing Indian spinners.
Weather and Pitch Conditions
There is high percentage of precipitation expected during the day and evening respectively. The pitch at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium has been a slow turner. Batsmen might find it difficult to score runs, but the pitch will favour the spinners.
