The third match of the 3-match ODI series between India and South Africa will be played on Sunday, the 23rd of January. The match will take place at Newlands, Cape Town. South Africa have taken a 2-0 lead in the series by defeating Team India in the both the first and second ODI. Team India would want to win the third and last ODI to save some self-respect for themselves. However, South Africa, who took a 0-2 lead in the series, will look to make a clean sweep by winning the third ODI. Team India will look to return home after winning the final match of the tour.
India's performance on the tour was disappointing, especially the bowlers, who failed to show some decent performance. South Africa achieved the target of 288 runs in the second ODI by losing 3 wickets. In both the matches, the Indian bowlers have taken only 6 wickets. Indian bowlers will be expected to perform better in Cape Town. Jasprit Bumrah has taken three wickets in the series while Chahal, Thakur and Ashwin took one wicket each, respectively.
South Africa, on the other hand, did not allow Team India to dominate at their home grounds. In both the ODIs, the batsmen of the team put up a strong performance and did not give any chance to the Indian bowlers. Temba Bavuma and van der Dussen also played useful innings in the second ODI after scoring a half-century in the first match. de Kock scored 78 and Malan 91 in the second ODI. Both the openers made a strong start to ensure the team's victory.
The minimum and maximum temperatures at Newlands will be 21 and 35 degrees, respectively. There will be a no chance of precipitation, so we could see a match without interruptions.
Cape Town's pitch provides a good balance between the bat and the ball. The spinners here will not get much help from the pitch but the fast bowlers may get a little swing from the new ball. But this pitch is considered good for the batsmen. We can see a high scoring match in the final ODI.
