After two back to back wins, team India will aim to claim the series in the third T20I at Seddon Park, Hamilton. India took a 2-0 lead on Sunday thanks to their commanding victory over the hosts at Eden Park. New Zealand failed to perform with the bat in the second T20I and suffered second consecutive defeat in the five-match series.
In the second T20I, none of the Kiwi batsmen was able to accelerate and the team managed to score a paltry score of 132. Bowlers did try to put pressure with the ball but KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer chased it down with ease towards the end. New Zealand will have to switch things up to keep the series alive.
India, on the other hand, were dominant with the ball as they denied Kiwis with any momentum. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were the pick of the bowlers as their economical bowling restricted the hosts on a below par score.
With the bat, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer carried on where they left off in the first game with scores of 57* and 44 respectively. India is likely to play with the same side for the third game and would look to wrap up the series.
Skipper Virat Kohli would not want to tinker with the winning combination and would look to stick with the same playing XI. Rohit Sharma, who is yet to get big innings on this tour will be eager to contribute with a big score.
Probable Playing XI
Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (wk), Virat Kohli (c), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Manish Pandey, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah.
The home team doesn’t have many options on the bench but they are likely to replace Blair Tickner with Daryl Mitchell. Tickner has gone for plenty in the last two games. Tim Seifert, who has batted at number six in both the matches is likely to come up the order after a good knock in the last match.
Probable Playing XI
Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, Kane Williamson (c), Colin de Grandhomme, Ross Taylor, Tim Seifert (wk), Mitchell Santner, Daryl Mitchell, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Hamish Bennett.
The match will be held at Seddon Park in Hamilton which is known as a batting paradise with good bounce and pace. The team winning the toss is expected to field first.
The weather is expected to be partly cloudy with 0% chances of rain. The temperature will be around 18-24 degrees Celsius.
