India U-19 Defeat Australia by 74 Runs to Enter World Cup Semi-Finals

India U19 team on Tuesday, January 28, defeated Australia by a margin of 74 runs in the quarter-finals of the U19 World Cup to make their way through to the semi-finals of the tournament. Indian pacer Kartik Tyagi played a crucial role by sending Australia top-order back to the pavilion with his sensational figures of 4/24 and help India register a comfortable victory.

India stated the game by putting up a score of 233 at a loss of 9 wickets on the board and then, trying everything in hand to defend the total. The 74-run victory came after India bundled out their opponents for the last game, Australia, at a mere score of 159 runs with 6.3 overs to spare.

The top-order of the Australian cricket team had a short-stay at the pitch as the team lost three wickets in the first over itself. Tyagi picked back-to-back four important wickets in the face of skipper Mackenzie Harvey, alongside Lachlan Hearne, Oliver Davies and wicket-keeper Patrick Rowe. Except for Rowe, none of the three players could even score 5-runs.

Apart from Kartik, bowler Akash Singh too turned out to be a crucial asset for the team after picking up 3 wickets in his quota of 8.3 overs.

In the batting segment, it was young sensation Yashashvi Jaiswal and Atharva Ankolekar, who rode team India to victory.

Kartik Tyagi was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his amazing bowling show in the game. On the game front, the IndiaU19 team will now be playing the Super League Semi-Final 1 on February 4 at the Senwes Park, Potchefstroom against a team that is yet to be decided.
