After an awful end to the series against New Zealand, Men in Blue gear up to meet South Africa for a 3-game ODI series. India will be hosting South Africa for 3 ODIs starting from March 12 with the first game being played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced the 15-member squad for team India for the upcoming ODIs against South Africa. With the team being announced, the major event that caught people’s attention was the return of Shikhar Dhawan, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Hardik Pandya who as recently seen playing a mesmerizing knock of 158 runs off 55 balls in a domestic T20 game. He returned to the game after a gap of 5-months due to severe lower-back injury, for which he had to undergo a surgery.
Meanwhile, Shikhar Dhawan sustained a shoulder injury during the ODI series against Australia at home after which he was ruled out of the New Zealand tour. Now the player has been announced as fit to play and shall be joining the team in Dharamshala.
India’s crucial opener, Rohit Sharma has been dropped for the upcoming ODIs after he suffered a calf injury during the 5th T20I in and against New Zealand. He is still recovering and thus, was unavailable for selection. Apart from him, Kedar Jadhav has been dropped from the squad while Shubham Gill was called-in.
India had a drastic ODI experience against New Zealand where they ended the series down as 0-3. On the other hand, South Africa had an incredible campaign against Australia as they whitewashed the Kangaroos in the ODIs.
