Team Preview
Iceland takes on Romania in the Path A playoff semifinal to earn the place in the playoff final with either Bulgaria or Hungary next month. Iceland secured victories in their last three group matches over and finished third in Group H, four points behind the latter. Erik Hamren's men are also looking to gain strength from the Nations League. In 2018-19 Nations League, they lost all four games in their respective group. In the current edition, they lost to England and Belgium to stay at the bottom.
Erik Hamren's side was the quarter-finalist of the 2016 European Championships, where they lost the round-of-8 fixture with France. If they crack the playoff code, they would sit in Group F with France, Portugal and Germany.
Meanwhile, Romania finsihed at fourth in their respective group as Mirel Radoi's men won four matches and lost the same number of matches out of 10 in Group F, including Spain, Sweden and Norway. If they manage to overcome both hurdles in playoffs, they would enter Group C along with Austria, Ukraine and the Netherlands.
