Every cricket fan was waiting for the latest ICC ODI rankings, and when the list is finally out, the result has come out as no surprise. The Indian team seized the second spot with 122 points after series wins in Australia and New Zealand, whereas England reaches the highest pinnacle and tops the ranking with a total of 126 points, as mentioned by ICC in a statement.
Though the Indian team has bagged the second spot behind England in the ICC ODI ranking, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and pacer Jasprit Bumrah, have topped their respective batters’ and bowlers’ charts.
Kohli had fabulous 2018 as he became the first-ever Indian captain to win Test Series in Australia. He continued to dominate his first batsman spot with staggering 887 points followed by Rohit Sharma at 854 points. Bumrah surged to the first rank with 808 points and has been consistent with his outstanding performance, hence, making it to the top of the fresh list.
M.S. Dhoni made three fifties against Australia and managed to grab 17th spot moving up three slots than before in batsman ranking. Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has progressed one level and attained the fifth slot and meanwhile, fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar climbed to 17th position. Batsman Kedar Jadhav made it to the 35th position witnessing a rise of eight places.
Fast bowler Trent Boult from New Zealand has achieved the third spot with 732 points, and Quinton de Kock from South Africa has got the eighth slot among batsmen. After the defeat, New Zealand lies at number four in the list after South Africa. Nepal has now received a full ranking after crossing the benchmark of eight matches and stands at 15 points along with UAE.
