ICC Cricket World Cup Final: England vs. New Zealand Match Prediction

About The Match

The ICC World Cup 2019 final will be played between the hosts, England and last time runners up, New Zealand at the Home of cricket, Lords. The live action of the match will start at 3:00 PM IST.

Both the teams started their World Cup Campaign confidently but lost their way in the mid of the tournament. England came to the position where they have to win last two league matches to qualify for semi-finals while New Zealand, on the other hand, qualified among the top four due to their net run rate.

Besides all these things most importantly, this time a new name will be added in the list of World Cup winners. Previously, both the nations went close but failed to emerge victorious. England lost in the finals thrice while the Aussies ended the blackcaps dream to lift the trophy for the first time in the 2015 World Cup final.

In this tournament Lords track has lived up to the reputation of providing an advantage to both batsman and bowlers. Out of four matches played at this venue in this tournament, two times the teams have crossed 300 runs mark and won both times. If we talk about the toss, then both the teams have looked to bat first most of the time in this World Cup after winning the toss.

Undoubtedly, in this match also the captain winning the toss will opt to bat first and put the scoreboard pressure on the other team.

The weather has already impacted this World Cup a lot. For the finals, the reports coming from London suggests that it will be cloudy throughout the day with very fewer percent chances of rain for the entire day. Temperature is expected to hover between 16 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius, and the humidity will be in the mid-’50s.

Team Preview

England

England entered the tournament with favorites tag. Their campaign started with a comprehensive victory over South Africa. However, the team struggled in the mid of the tournament due to Jason Roy’s absence who missed few matches due to injury. At one point, England came to the position where they have to win both their rest matches to be among the top four. But, instead of falling under pressure, the Englishmen came out strongly and defeated India and New Zealand in their last two league stage games to qualify for the playoffs.

In the semi-final, Eoin Morgan and his troops ended Australia’s dream to retain the title. In the match, the Englishmen registered a comfortable victory by eight wickets.

After this, it looked that New Zealand would be the first team to qualify for playoffs. But, after consecutive losses in last three league stage games, the kiwi's chances depended on results of other matches.
