Hyderabad vs Delhi, Indian T20 League 2020, Match Preview

Saturday’s losing sides Hyderabad and Delhi face off each other in the Tuesday encounter of Indian T20 League 2020

Match Prediction: Oct 27, 7:30 PM

Team Preview

After a poor batting show in the chase, Delhi and Hyderabad reach Dubai to fix their issues to get two vital points. Delhi started the match in a dominating way with picking 3 wickets on 42 but Kolkata bounced back and Delhi didn’t recover after the batting carnage from Rana and Narine. With back-to-back defeats, Delhi is now going far from the top-two finish. The recent success from Bangalore and Mumbai pushed Delhi to 3rd spot. Delhi’s playoff is secured but it would be a negative aspect if they fail to finish in top two after a fine first-half performance. Shaw was dropped but it didn’t work out. The strike rate is a big issue for Pant in middle-overs and Iyer is not also delivering much in top-order. Dhawan failed to score in last game and Delhi’s entire batting shattered against the spin. Their batting unit is relying on Dhawan and Ponting would avoid their one-man show in batting unit. The collective effort can boost Delhi’s confidence ahead of the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad can blame themselves for the loss against Punjab as they lost the game from a winning situation. Hyderabad can finish with 14 points maximum if they win remaining three. They have a positive run-rate so Warner’s side is still in the race. Bairstow’s form is a worrying sign now and they also need Williamson in middle-overs on these slow surfaces. Holder is providing a depth in bowling but Warner needs depth in middle-overs. This is the weakest part in Hyderabad’s squad. They need to take early calls and play out of their skin to get wins from their remaining games as they would fight against the top three sides of this season in the next three.

Pitch Report

Dubai’s track is a spinning track and the surface gets slowers later in the match. It’s challenging but not a pure bowling track. Batsmen can also have a fine day with the bat but they need to avoid extra execution in middle-overs. First, half-an-hour is tough with the new ball.
