Happy Birthday Sachin: Legends Retire but their legacy remains in the minds of people

When he was hitting fours after fours, Boundaries were the bowls ‘destination and his bat was the source. When wickets were falling down quickly, he played the anchors role to give the team some support. No doubt, many legends were born in cricket, but nobody can ever replace the one and only SACHIN TENDULKAR. 

On April 24, 1973 Sachin was born in Nirmal Nursing home, Dadar. His father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a well-known Marathi novelist & poet. His mother, Rajni, worked in the insurance industry. Tendulkar was given his first bat at the age of 11, a “Kashmir Willow” bat by his sister. He used the same bat at the age of 14 to score 329 runs in a school match. A year later, he scored a century in his first class debut match for Bombay. It was his brother Ajit Tendulkar, who created a spark in him for cricket. He was the one who took him to his coach Ramakant Acrekar. On his 46th birthday, let’s have a look at some of his achievements.

Year by year Achievements

1989: Made his debut in test match for India against Pakistan and remains the youngest Indian to do so. That young and shy boy went on to become a legendary cricketer, breaking many records in international cricket. Tendulkar faced 24 balls and scored 15 before he was cleaned up by Waqar with a brilliant in swinger, but the young boy gave a glimpse of his genius. His debut was a sign of the formation of a legend.

1990: Scored his first test century against England. At the age of 17 years, he made an unbeaten 119 runs of 189 balls and became the third-youngest batsman to score a test match century.

2002: This year, the little master equals Sir Don Bradman ‘s record of 29 centuries in Test cricket. Soon he made his 30th test century against England to break the record of the Australian great, Sir Don Bradman.

2005: He completed) his 10,000 runs in 122nd test match. In this year only, he scored his 35th test match century against Sri Lanka surpassing the great Sunil Gavaskar. 

2006: In this year the master blaster sets a new record after scoring 14000 runs in one day internationals and his 40th one-day international ton against West Indies.

2010: Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman in the history of one day internationals to score a double century against South Africa at Gwalior. In this year only, he became the only batsman to hit 50 centuries in test matches. Still no other player has reached to that record.

2011: This year he surpassed Sri Lankan great, Sanath Jayasuriya in terms of most one day internationals played by any player in history. 

2012: Every cricket lover will definitely remember this year because this year, he made 100 centuries in international cricket. He reached the milestone after scoring his 49th one day international hundred against Bangladesh. 

2013: This year marked the ending of the legend ‘s part from all formats of cricket. His 200th test match against West Indies at Wankhede was the last match of his career after which he announced to retire from the game he lives for.   

2014: He became the first player in sporting history to get the biggest award of India – “BHARAT RATNA”

Tendulkar can look back on an outstanding career. He is the only player to have scored 100 international centuries. He holds the record for the most hundreds in both Test and one-day cricket. The most important thing is that he was never a part of any controversy in his whole cricketing career. He is the role model for various Young cricketers around the world.
