Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs will be squaring off in the second Saturday fixture of the Caribbean Premier League 2020.
Team Preview
Guyana and Jamaica both are flowing on the same boat with one win and one loss. Guyana made a dull start in the campaign with losing the opening game against Trinbago by 4 wickets in the 17-overs affair. In the second fixture, they clinched a thriller by 3-wickets following yet another splendid knock from Hetmyer who scored 71 off 44 balls in the chase. With excellent bowling display from Keemo Paul, Guyana restricted Patriots on 128 in first innings. Guyana requires to avoid the reliability of Hetmyer. Last season’s top scorer Brandon King failed in both games along with his opening partner Hemraj. In middle-order, Pooran needs to fire for Guyana.
Meanwhile, Jamaica had a good start in the tournament with managing a successful chase of 159 against St Lucia, riding on Asif Ali’s 47 and Phillips’s 44. Tallawahs couldn’t digest the win and suffered badly on Thursday against Trinbago. With the help of Phillips’s crucial 58, Jamaica managed to score 135, and Knight Riders chased it down with 7 wickets in hand. For Tallawahs, Russell’s fitness is also a worrying sign as the T20 Talisman couldn’t impress much with the bat. Asif Ali and Phillips have been outstanding with the bat but Jamaica needs more runs from other batsmen.
Pitch Report
Guyana and Jamaica fixture will be played on the same ground at Brian Lara Stadium. The rain had played a spoilsport in earlier but we could expect a full game on Saturday. The surface is a bit dry and a challenging track. Spinners will have an advantage due to the sluggish behavior of the pitch.
