Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Barbados Tridents, Caribbean Premier League, Match Prediction

Guyana Amazon Warriors and Barbados Tridents square off in the first leg fixture in Caribbean Premier League 2020.

Match Timing: September 02, 2020 (3 AM IST)

Team Preview

Last season’s finalists will take on each other for the first time in the Caribbean Premier League 2020. Both sides had a disappointing campaign comparing to the last year’s performance and the big reason is the failure of the star players like Brendon King and Hayden Walsh – the highest run-getter and wicket-taker of the previous season. Barbados has to blame themselves after recent defeats against Trinbago and St Lucia when they were a clear winner but they didn’t hold the nerve in the end and walked away with zero points. In the previous encounter, Tridents failed to chase a mere total of 93 when they required 30 runs from the last 7 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Before this game, it was Pollard who rescued Trinbago and chased down a total from the unexpected situation. Tridents need to pull off something special to make into the top four as they have three games left now and it’s a do-die call for them.

Meanwhile, Guyana finally won the match after three consecutive defeats and they also have some issues which need to be solved. They need a couple of wins from remaining matches to secure the top four. In the previous encounter, Patriots put a good total of 150 and in the powerplay, Guyana lost three wickets at 24. Pooran led Guayna with the finest victory of the tournament and scored the first century of this season with three straight sixes. Warriors are now placed on 3rd and they have to face Tridents twice from the reaming three matches. Chris Green-led Guyana has a slight advantage after a fresh victory on Sunday.

Pitch Report

Being the 2nd game of the day, Queen’s Park Oval will give full advantage to the spinners, and scoring runs would be quite difficult due to the sluggish behavior of the pitch. The surface gets slower and dryer after the first game in the day. 140 would be an imposing total with a quality spin-attack.
