The New-look England side will face Pakistan in the second ODI to seal the series. England thrashed Pakistan in the opening game by 9 wickets.
Match Timings: July 10, 3:30 PM IST
Team Preview
Pakistan made a pretty dull start to England's tour against a second-string England side. For the first time, England made 11 changes to the squad and five players made their ODI debut. England now topped the table with 75 points in ICC CWC Super League. Pakistan lost four wickets in the first powerplay and Saqib Mahmood made a great start. Fakhar Zaman was the only player who stood for Pakistan with scoring 47.
Saqib bagged a 4-wicket haul and England bowled out the Pakistani side on just 141. English side didn’t wait for the victory as they chased down the total with ease losing just one wicket. Crawley scored a fine half-century on his debut and Malan also contributed 68. It’s a great opportunity for young players to show their talent on a big stage and it would be great if the English side wins the ODI series without their main players.
England recently won the ODI series 2-0 against Sri Lanka. After losing to Australia and India in CWC Super League, England can eye back-to-back series win. Out of 12 complete games, England won 7 games. This task would be tough as Pakistan will surely bounce back after the defeat in the first ODI.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will have busy away assignments and they will be heading to West Indies after facing England. Pakistan’s game in the first ODI was pretty disappointing. It was like Pakistan’s second-string team was playing against a strong England side. They beat Zimbabwe at home 2-1 and edged past South Africa in away series but the story was reverse in Cardiff. They took this English side lightly, and these young players can surprise them. We have seen in the past when a second-string Sri Lanka whitewashed Pakistan in 2019 and now, England is ready to humiliate Pakistan. Pakistan are favourites this time because they will bounce back. It was the first game for this Asian side in UK and story would be different.
Pitch Report
Lord’s surface is good for batting and batsmen will enjoy batting like this. Pacers will take advantage in the early phase of the game. Chasing would be tricky if the score is above 280.
