Australia’s important opening batsman and in-form left-hand batsman David Warner has been ruled out of the first Test against India. The first Test will be played in Adelaide, and it will be a Day-Night Test. Cricket Australia confirmed this news, and they are hopeful to see its star batsman in Boxing Day Test, starting from December 26.
Warner suffered an injury during the second ODI of the series, and he is recovering from a strained adductor muscle. "I feel I have made great progress in a short amount of time, and it's best for me to stay here in Sydney to continue working on getting back to full fitness," Warner issued a statement.
According to Warner, he is still not 100 percent ready for Test match conditions. "The injury feels a lot better, but I need to be able to satisfy in my own mind and to my team-mates that it is 100 percent ready for Test match conditions,” added Warner.
Australia didn’t confirm the opening replacement for Warner, but Cameron Green can get the Test cap after a century for Australia A against India XI in the Test warm-up fixture. Will Pucovski and veteran Joe Burns are also in the line, but Pucovski got injured in warmup, so Burns will automatically get a place in the playing XI.
