Chelsea is ready for the home clash with Southampton on Saturday evening. After the exit from EFL Cup to Spurs on penalty-shootout, Chelsea defeated Crystal Palace 4-0 to find the rhythm in Premier League, courtesy of Jorginho’s brace and Chilwell-Zouma’s one goal each. The 2-0 defeat to Liverpool and 3-3 draw with West Brom questioned their defence. The Blues have won seven of their previous nine matches in Premier League with Southampton. Standing at 7th in the table, Lampard’s men conceded fewer goals at home since the start of the last season and they have won seven out of their eight games at Stamford Bridge with keeping five clean sheets.
Meanwhile, Southampton started off the season with 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and later, Spurs added one more defeat in their bag with 5-2. Before the international break, the Saints picked up 6 points from their last two ties with Burnely and West Brom, without conceding a goal. Both sides met twice in the previous season and Southampton had the last laugh at Stamford Bridge with a 2-0 victory after receiving 4-1 defeat at home. Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side aims to add second away victory against Chelsea and the last they did so in 1985.
