Lyon took off their Ligue 1 after a thumping 4-1 victory against Dijon last month despite having a tight schedule due to the Champions League. Les Gones are boosted after making into the maiden semifinal in Champions League 2019-20 and they lost to Bayern Munich who ended up as a winner after defeating Lyon’s rivals PSG 1-0. Memphis Depay registered a hat-trick for Lyon in the opening game to easily get three points. Rudi Garcia's side is clear about their goal for the 2020-21 Ligue 1 as they would battle for the final four to grab the Champions League qualification. Depay has been already linked up Barcelona and holding him is crucial for Lyon along with Aouar and Dembele who are also in line for the transfer-move.
Meanwhile, Bordeaux kicked off their campaign with playing a goalless draw with Nantes, before defeating Angers 2-0 in the second game, courtesy of Josh Maja and Toma Basic’s strike. Jean-Louis Gasset’s side would keen to carry the form against the strongest Lyon. Bordeaux finished 12th in the 2018-19 Ligue 1 season and they expected to put a better performance in the new season. In home games, Bordeaux added four draws in the last four games but if Gasset's side avoids defeat against Lyon, they would be a better result for them.
