Brian Lara, Ramnaresh Sarwan to help West Indies batsman ahead of India Tests

West Indies star sensation Brian Lara and Ramnaresh Sarwan will be in the scheme of things of national team again as they will be seen helping the batsmen prepare for the two-Test series against India, announced Cricket West Indies on Friday. They will work with the players in the pre-series camp in Antigua.

The two-Test series will also kickstart the ICC Tests Championship for two sides where the likes of Shai Hope, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, John Campbell, Kraigg Brathwaite, and Darren Bravo will be expected to do the bulk of the scoring for the host team.

"We have some good young batsman in the team who we believe will form the future of West Indies cricket. We saw some very good signs of development earlier this year in the Test matches when we played so very well to beat England and we want to see them grow and become outstanding players for the West Indies," Jimmy Adams, Cricket West Indies' (CWI) Director of Cricket, said.

"We have taken the step to have Brian and 'Ronnie' work with these players, who have demonstrated a will to learn and succeed. We know they still have the passion and love for West Indies cricket and are eager to assist and share their information with the present generation."

Earlier in the series, West Indies struggled in the limited-overs series and eventually lost both ODI and T20 series against India. The Test matches, which is scheduled to start on August 22, will once again be an opportunity for the team to come out strong.
