The Indian Cricket selection committee on Tuesday announced a 16-member squad for the ODIs against New Zealand. Prithvi Shaw has been called up in the ODI squad. Shaw has been performing exceptionally well in the domestic limited overs cricket since his return from doping ban. He recently scored 150 runs in the one-day warm up game against New Zealand XI which grabbed selectors attention.
Sanju Samson, who was initially left out from the T20I squad, has been named as a replacement for injured Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan picked up a shoulder injury during the third and the final ODI against Australia in Bengaluru. All-rounder Hardik Pandya also misses out after failing his fitness test.
In the bowling department, India has gone with the same attack. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami will lead the pace attack along with youngsters Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are the two wrist-spinners in the side and Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube are the two all-rounders.
India's tour of New Zealand will start with five T20Is — the first of which will be played in Auckland on January 24.
