Sevilla enters UEFA Super Cup 2020 for the 4th time in previous six years but the assignment is up against the Champions League winners Bayern Munich who are in top-notch form. The reigning Bundesliga champions are unbeaten from 31 matches in all competitions. During their winning streak, they edged past Chelsea and Barcelona before defeating PSG 1-0 in the final of Champions League 2019-20. Hansi Flick's men kicked off their Bundesliga 2020-21 campaign with a thumping victory of 8-0 over Schalke 04, courtesy of Serge Gnabry’s hattrick. The German champions are entering in the UEFA Super Cup for the fourth time and in the previous outing, they defeated Chelsea in the 2013 edition.
Sevilla have lost each of their three Super Cup matches and they would aim to change the fortune this time. Los Nervionenses edged past Inter Milan 3-2 in the final to seal the Europa League title for the sixth time in 15 years. Julen Lopetegui’s side kicked off their La Liga campaign with a 3-2 victory over Levante last week and this is the only game, they played after the Europa League final. The Spanish club faced Bayern once and Bayern secured 2-1 aggregate success in the quarter-finals of the 2017-18 Champions League.
